How much does it cost to have a voice production done?
Pricing varies based on the type and length of the project, the languages required, the number of voice talents used, and whether or not music is involved, among other factors. For most types of projects, you may request a customized project quote online, and receive a competitive price that takes all of these factors into account.

Are there any copyright, licensing, or royalty issues I should be aware of?
No, unless there is music involved in your project.

For a lot of telephony work (IVR or telephony prompts, speech-enabled applications, and other short recorded segments) music is not used, so there are no issues of this kind to worry about. Once you pay for the project, you own it -- the files are yours to use in any way, as many times and in as many locations as you wish, without restriction.

In an auto attendant, narration, multimedia, or software project in which you might require us to provide music, a license may be required, and your use of the project may be limited in certain ways. When dealing with us, the license fee will usually be built into the final price, so you don't have to worry about it. Our site contains more information on copyrights, licensing, and royalties as applied to music used commercially. If you plan on using music in your project, contact us for further details or a custom quote based on your specific needs.

Why not just record our project myself, or have someone in my company do it?
Unfortunately, many companies do exactly that -- and you can almost always tell when they do. Remember that by having your spoken word project produced professionally, using national, broadcast-quality voice talent, you enhance your company’s image and give your callers or audience the impression of a larger, more competent, and more capable firm. The reason to have this kind of work done professionally is the same as having your web site, brochures, or ads professionally designed – it makes a difference, and people really do notice.

I’d like to have an auto attendant / voicemail / IVR / ACD system for my company. What kind of equipment is required?
You need a bona-fide business telecommunications system that offers the features you need. Some office-store telephones may do voicemail, or have very limited auto attendant features, but don’t plan on doing any type of sophisticated call handling with these types of regular telephones.

Most PBX and KSU phone systems have auto attendant and voicemail capabilities, either standard or as an option. Some more capable systems have call distribution features as well. IVR systems usually feature an integrated voice server, database connectivity, and other complex data handling features that require a larger investment. We suggest you contact a local phone systems dealer to investigate all the available options.

Why doesn’t the On Hold Network sell these kinds of systems?
We work with many different telephony manufacturers, resellers, installers, and systems integrators. Some of these companies purchase our services directly; others refer their clients to us; and still others have partnered with us to offer their clients special pricing on our services. Selling equipment would put us into the position of competing with our loyal partners, which we would not want to do! That’s why we’re committed to adding value to systems, but letting others sell them.

Do I have to write the scripts or prompts I need myself, or can you help me?
We do employ a team of experienced writers; but keep in mind that we don’t know what you need for your project unless you give us at least some basic information. As part of our service, we offer help in polishing your scripts, check them for errors in grammar, suggest improvements, and if appropriate, make sure they conform to standard telephony rules of usage. However, we can’t write your project from nothing, as we have no way of knowing what you need the recordings to say or do for you. You need to provide at least some basic information about your needs, and we can usually go from there.

For your covenience, when ordering Auto Attendants and Voicemail Greetings online, you can choose from a number of professional sample scripts to start you off. There is also a "Write It For Me!" option that lets you just type in what you want your system to do. Also, be sure to check the additional samples and tips we have on our website, and please contact us if you still have questions.

Can I have my project recorded in other languages besides English?
Yes. We offer services in over 25 different languages! Foreign-language recordings usually take more time and carry an additional cost. When ordering, you can either provide a finished script in the native language, or we can translate your script from English for a fee. For more detailed information, you may request a quote for your project. Be sure to explain your language needs, and we will be happy to help you.
